We know that "Unity" was started by Charles Fillmore but where did his concepts about religion come from and who were the people that most influenced his awakening to the idea that man is living far below his potential.  Was it his desire to start a school where people could come to study religion?  Was it his vision that those who came after him would take what he started and work to find effective methods to help mankind to grow from the potentiality and become a spiritual being, not in words or imagination, but actually in fact?

The Path of Discovery is a series of three short seminars offering you a quick and easy journey into the heart and soul of both our spiritual community and our life-changing teachings. 

1.    Unity Quick Start: March 11, 2012
 Discover the Essence of Unity- This seminar provides an overview of the basic principles and core beliefs that are at the heart of the Unity teaching.  In this seminar, we answer some of the most frequently asked questions about Unity and participants are introduced to the practices of affirmative prayer and meditation.  (No pre-requisite).

2.   Unity Church and You:  To Be Announced
Discover what Unity Church has for you- This seminar will familiarize you with the many programs and activities we have available to you and your family for spiritual growth and personal support.  You’ll have the chance to meet new people right away and start to feel more at home.  (No pre-requisite)

3.    Connecting to Unity Church:  February 5, 2012
Discover your Place at Unity Church- This final class in The Path of Discovery is designed for those who would like to become members of The Unity Church.  The class explains the membership process and what it means to be a member of The Unity Church.  (Pre-requisite: Completion of “The Unity Church and You” and “Unity Quick Start.”)

A Course in Miracles
Are you curious about A Course In Miracles, or perhaps already an involved student?  So are quite a few people who attended Carol Tietjen's information class two weeks ago.  While the Course is primarily a self-directed study, most students find an ongoing discussion group to be very nourishing.  We are in the process of setting up at least two Course discussion groups, one in Bluffton soon and one on Hilton Head in September.  If you are interested and want further information, please contact Carol, who is serving as coordinator at cjteej15@gmail.com or 834-384-9256.

A Course in Miracles is not specifically Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism, or any other "ism".  It is a unique program for individual spiritual growth.  We are not here to fulfill a certain curriculum in a certain timetable or to debate anything.

One member of the group, with more exposure and experience in Course material, will facilitate the process and structure of the discussion.  However, the facilitator doesn't teach.  The Course tells us that we are all simultaneously both students and teachers.

At group gatherings, the focus is on connecting with each other to share perceptions, experiences and interpretations of designated segments of Course material.  Between gatherings, participants are encouraged to follow a daily practice of studying one Lesson and one segment of Text.  Participants may be at different places in the Course.  This does not matter.

We come together to learn and grow from our shared explorations.  Please do not interrupt or talk while another is speaking.  If you are late, please enter quietly.  Remember that everything said here is confidential.
